Happy Wednesday blog friends! It's a snow day for me today in Tennessee, so I thought I would take this chance to pop in and share with you about an amazing site that I have been using in my classroom called Flocabulary. Have you heard about it? Are you already using it? If not, I am here today to share with you about Flocabulary and offer you a 75 day free trial

Here's the scoop about Flocabulary and why you should totally take advantage and sign up for the free trial!

- Flocabulary is a web-based learning program for all grades and subjects that uses educational hip-hop music to engage students and increase achievement.

- Teachers in more than 50,000 schools have used Flocabulary’s standards-based videos, instructional activities and formative assessments to develop core literacy skills and supplement instruction across the curriculum.

- With new and expanding resources for writing and project-based learning, Flocabulary is a springboard into student-centered instruction. Check out our Writing Academic Rhymes resources to lead students in their own educational rap-writing!
- Flocabulary offers more than 700 videos with accompanying classroom resources and formative assessments to support instruction in math, science, social studies, ELA, vocabulary, current events and life skills, with new content every week.

-In addition to the catchy hip-hop music that helps you teach the standards, Flocabulary also offers graphics organizers, quizzes, printable worksheets, lesson plans, games, quick review activities, CCSS alignment, and quizzes (paid subscription required for the quiz part).
-Songs and videos available for math, language arts, vocabulary, science, social studies, life skills, and current events.
-For grades K-12. There is something for all grade levels! Each video is labeled which grade/grade band it is suited for. Plus it lists the objectives and standards!

One thing that I really love about Flocabulary is that there is a printable page with the song lyrics. This allows me to display this on my Smartboard and us to go back fill in the blanks together. You could also print it off. You can also click on the blank for the missing word to appear.
Here is one we did recently after watching the Fiction vs. Nonfiction video.

We have been focusing on geometry in math recently... there was a Flocabulary video that was perfect for me to use during that unit! The lyrics to the songs are so catchy and the kids LOVE it!
