How To Writing!

Happy Sunday! Normally I would be getting things ready for work tomorrow.... but I'm still on snow vacation here in Tennessee! That's right... the snow, ice, sleet, and super cold temps we had last week has carried into this week. Many areas have been without power and roads are still in bad conditions, so we are still closed as of now Monday and Tuesday. Since there is no school tomorrow I'm staying up later and getting a chance for a little blog time! Yay!
This snow vacation has given me lots of extra time to go back and give some of my very first products some much need love and updating! One of my most favorite products, but also one of my very first products (I started it in 2011 and got it posted in early 2012), is my How To Writing Pack. It was in very, very bad need of new fonts, graphics, borders, etc. So I gave that little jewel a good shining and she is sparkly and ready to be used in a classroom near you! ;)

This How To Writing Pack is filled with 43 how to writing sheets, 18 corresponding craftivities, 2 thinking maps (a how to brace map and a how to bubble map) and a mini How To Writing poster and there is also some examples and explanation of how to use this pack. You can check it out HERE!

I'm prepping the How to Catch a Leprechaun now and we will be doing it in the next couple of weeks.

Here is a pic of that project from a past group that I had.

{please ignore the bad photo quality! This group of sweeties are now 4th graders!! so it's an oldie pic...but a goodie project!}

I will post some updated pics with our new ones when we make them in a couple weeks.

Want to win a copy of this updated pack?? Leave me a comment telling me your favorite thing to have your kiddos write about. As always, the 1st, 5th, and 10th {if I can get that many! ha} commenter will get the pack for free. Please remember to leave your email address. I can't send it to you if I don't have your email address. I'm also giving some away on my facebook page! Head over there for some extra chances at winning. While your there be sure to show my little page some love by liking it if you haven't already! :)

Have a fabulous week! I've got a date with my sweet Dexter dog the next two days! :)

Let's Celebrate Reading!

It's SNOW week here in middle Tennessee! We got so much snow and ice and the temps have been so cold that most schools have been closed so far every day and some for the remainder of the week too! My district is closed all week. This has given me some extra time to work on some planning for upcoming things at school. One thing that is just right around the corner is Read Across America day. I love this time of year because there is sooo much you can do to get students excited about reading! I turn this into a week long reading celebration. Each day we read a specific book and then complete activities that revolve around that book. We have dress up days, special snacks, and do lots of reading and writing, reading responses, and graphic organizers. It really is a magical week jam packed full of SOOO much fun and learning! If you go all out and like to spend a week on Read Across America and not just one day, I have the pack just for you!
Click the pic below to take you to my shop to read all about it some of the things we plan to do to celebrate reading!

We got so much snow and ice that my miller man has gotten some snow days too!!! Me and Dexter have loved being at home with him and we got in some time playing in the snow! Can't wait to get up in the morning and fix my sweet boys some breakfast!
Fun times with these two cuties!!

I would love to hear how you like to celebrate reading with your students! Leave me a comment telling me all about it! I will pick the 1st, 5th, 10th {if I can get that many! ha} commenter and send you this little pack of FUN! Don't forget to leave your email address... I can't send it to you if I don't have that.

Have a great rest of the week! :)

Froggy's First Kiss

Love is in the air in room 04! Today we were all about Froggy and Frogilina... We began by taking a picture walk through the book Froggy's First Kiss and making predictions about what we thought would happen. We then read the book and talked about what really happened and what we predicted. Next, students worked in their reading journals to sequence the events from the story. Students had to recall the order of the goodies that Frogilina gave Froggy at lunch each day. The KISS Froggy got sure did get lots of giggles from my firsties! ;)  Next, we got busy making some super cutie patootie Froggy and Frogilinas and then we colored some color me heart cut-outs from Creative Teaching Press! My firsties love to color so those hearts were a big hit!

If you need a little pack this week for Valentine's Day you can find these activities plus so many more in my Froggy's First Kiss companion pack.

You can read more about this pack from a couple of posts from last year by clicking here and here.

Would you like to win this pack? Leave me a comment telling me your favorite thing about Valentine's Day... I will pick the 1st, 5th, and 10th {if I can get that many! ha} comment. Be sure to leave me your email.

Happy Monday! Hope your week is jam packed full of love! xoxo!
