We LOVE Kwik Stix! {Giveaway!}

Hi! I'm popping in today to to talk about a new product that I've been using the past few months with my class that I'm totally loving... Kwik Stix! I recently wrote a post about the classic and neon Kwik Stix and today I want to show you the metalix!

Last week my after school kinders and firsties tried them out for a parts of a flower project.... and they LOVED them!! They thought Kwik Stix was the next best thing to sliced bread! :) HA!

Finished Metalix projects... I love how awesome they turned out!

Here are some of my after school sweeties using the classics.

Kwik Stix Solid Tempera Paint Sticks take the mess out of painting while keeping all the fun! Simply uncap, twist, and paint! Easy peasy, right!!?? Kwik Stix have a fast drying formula that allow them to dry in 90 seconds while still leaving a paint-like finish! The best part is that there are no cups, smocks, water or brushes required. Kwik Stix come in assorted vibrant colors with coverage that won't crack. They work great on poster paper, cardboard, wood and canvas....even Easter eggs! :) My students love creating projects with them and their Kwik Stix creations have been turning out super cute!! I'm so happy that I have added this product to my classroom resources... I now actually enjoy the idea of my students painting, because it is mess free and requires no setup! All they need is the Kwik Stix and some paper and they are good to go! The best part is my students love them and keep asking to use them.

Be sure to check out the Kwik Stix Pinterest board for some more great ideas of how to use this awesome product!

All About Plants!

This week were all about plants in room 4! This is one of my favorite units to do each year.

We planted flowers on Monday.

We made these cute flower friends by the sweet Cara Carroll. This is one of my favorite flower/plant activities that I do every year! I love how cute they turn out!

We also labeled the parts of a flower.

We made a Cara inspired chart with our schema, our new learning, and misconceptions. We read lots of non-fiction text this week to add to our new learning. We had one misconception-- Bees get honey from flowers. We cleared that up real quick and learned that bees get pollen from honey! :)

We completed a are/can/have/need chart about flowers. This is also from Cara's Flower Friends pack. I didn't get a chance to make a cute chart, so I just projected this on my smart board. Works like a charm! :) Ignore my terrible smart board handwriting. ;)

On Friday, we watched The Magic School Bus Gets Planted and enjoyed a plant inspired snazzy snack... dirt cups! yum yum! :)

Well friends that's all I've got for tonight! Have a great week!!

Five for Friday! {April 8, 2016}

Well I started this post last weekend and got side tracked and never finished it... and then the same thing almost happened this weekend! But I remembered I never finished it and well better late than never.. I'm linking up with Kacey at Doodle Bugs with 5 random things from the past two weeks since I started this post last weekend. :)

Last week we read The Three Billy Goats Fluff and completed lots of activities from Deanna and Deedee's Guiding Readers April pack.  We LOVE Guiding Readers!!! I love the adjectives they came up with to describe Mr. Troll!

For April Fool's Day I made my kids some "Brown E's" and told them that morning that I had spent my night before making some brown e's for them and told them I would pass them out after lunch. I got some very puzzled looks when I passed them out and they weren't impressed. I said you mean you don't like them?? I worked so hard on them! One sweetie said "Of course we like them! Thank you for this!" HA Later I did pass out some real brownies for them being such good sports! :)  I also gave them a word search that didn't have any of the words in it! :) I've been doing that for the past several years and the kids are completely fooled and they think that is the best trick ever!

This week we read Tops and Bottoms. Another super cute book! We also completed more of Deedee and Deanna's April Guiding Readers activities. We did a little tops and bottoms taste test on Friday and then did a class vote to see which was the favorite. Tops it was!

Eric got 6 baby chicks the other day.. and they are so stinkin' cute!

We found the first dry land fish for this year! Just enough to make us NEED some more because they are so darn yummy! We love them! Do you have them where you live??

Well friends that's all I've got for now. Don't forget to link up with Kacey if your like me and still haven't! ;)

Have a great week!!
