Hip Hip Hooray! Let's Celebrate the 100th Day!

We are officially 100 days smarter in room 04! After missing several days for snow and sickness we finally celebrated our 100th day of school today and boy did we have SO.MUCH.FUN!!!

Our day was jam packed full of fun and we were all about the number 100! I set up 8 stations for my sweeties to rotate through. Stations included 100 legos creation, 100th day trail mix, 100th day kid craftivity, 100 tangram creation, 100 piece puzzle, 100th day tower, 100th day questionnaire and race to 100 game. Most stations had a recording sheet that had students to write and draw about their creations.

I hung balloons from the ceiling {like I do each year} and in each balloon was an activity. As we would finish a rotation, I would randomly select students to pick out a balloon for me to pop and then they would read the activity that we were to do. They were in such suspense to know what the activities could be and couldn't wait to find out! Activities included counting to 100 by 1's, 2's, 5's, and 10's, a 100 second dance session, 100 glorious seconds of silence, 100 high fives, 100 leg lifts, 100 sit ups, 100 jumping jacks, touch your nose 100 times, etc. SOOOO much fun! One sweetie said he sure hoped we didn't have to do anymore sit ups! HA  After we popped a couple of balloons and completed those activities we would then rotate to our next station. Students each had a sticker chart that they would take with them as they went to a new station. Waiting for them at the station was stickers for them to add to their sticker chart. They loved it and it went soooo smoothly!!

Students were invited to make a special 100th day shirt at home with their families. I sent home a note a couple weeks in advance to ensure that families had enough time to participate. They did such a fabulous job with their shirts!! We had some special judges come around to our K-1 classrooms to pick a grand prize winner {everyone got a Hawk Bill for participating-this is school money} The grand prize winners in addition to their Hawk Bill got a 100 grand candy bar and a soda of their choice! ;) You would have thought we were giving away millions! :)  They all did such a great job.. I wouldn't want to be a judge! Tooooo hard to pick!

Here are a few of my sweeties and their shirts. AWESOME JOB!

The wild about the 100th day one is mine! :)

To end our day we enjoyed our trail mix, special 100th day cupcakes, and a juice pouch. What's a celebration without cupcakes??? :)

Today was a super fun day and my teacher heart came home so full of happiness. Days like today are truly the ones that they remember. I still have a student from a few years ago that I had in first grade say to me from time to time "hey, Miss Elisabeth, do you remember that one time you were making applesauce for Johnny Appleseed day and that mouse jumped out at you and you screamed???" That student is now in 4th grade. I don't know if it was the mouse that was so memorable or me screaming. But it was all because of Johnny Appleseed that we were celebrating that day. I'm thankful for school celebrations and the awesome learning opportunities that they give us. I'm so thankful to be able to teach such sweet children each day and year. I hope that something I do leaves a special mark on their heart and goes with them throughout their lives and they look back and remember me and our class and fun times we had together. I remember like it was yesterday my 3rd grade teacher transforming our classroom into the rainforest and the ocean that year. She influenced me to become a teacher with her enthusiasm to bring learning to life. I hope that I can bring some of that magic to my students that Mrs. Gibson gave to me that year.

Thankful for these sweet teacher friends who I get to work and have fun with everyday! :)

Well friends, that's our 100th day! Can't wait to do it all again next year with a new group of firsties! All of these activities that you see and that I've talked about can be found in my new pack Hip Hip Hooray! Let's Celebrate the 100th Day!.

Have you celebrated your 100th day of school yet?? Leave me a comment telling me when you celebrate or if you have already have and I would love to hear how you celebrate. I will pick the 1st, 5th, 10th, and hopefully the 20th {I never have that many comments! HA} commenter to win this pack for FREE! :) Don't forget to leave your email in your comment!

Let's Go on a Magical Learning Carpet Ride! {Donor's Choose}

Hi blog friends! Schools were closed this past Friday and today for sickness. The flu has hit our little district hard and there are so many who are battling the flu. They decided to close for a couple days since attendance was so down. So, today I've worked on prepping things for our 100th day celebration... it's supposed to be tomorrow but....it's currently snowing here...so it's not looking too good for celebration tomorrow.
Another thing I decided to work on today was a new project for Donor's Choose. I had one funded last winter for a listening center and was so excited!! We have gotten so much use out of the listening center. I tried another project last summer and didn't have any luck with it. I thought I would give it another try. One thing that is on my classroom wish list is a nice classroom carpet. So much magic and learning can take place on a classroom carpet. I currently have a small rug and it's gotten old, ratty, and dirty. And with 24 first graders it just isn't big enough for all of them. So there hasn't been a whole lot of circle time or morning meeting that has taken place on the rug this year. And that makes me sad. :( A nice, new, bigger rug is just what we need!! If you would like to learn more about this project you can check it out HERE. For the next week by entering the code SPARK at checkout they match your donation up to $100!! If you know someone who would like to donate please send them my way! I would so love to have this new carpet for my classroom so we can take magical learning carpet rides! :)

Do you use Donor's Choose??  Have you had a project funded? I would love to hear about it! :)

Peek at My Week! {January 12th-16th}

Happy Monday! I had a pretty busy weekend with family stuff and didn't get a chance to link up with my sweet friend Deedee with my Peek at My Week. So, I'm just popping in super quick with my plans because I promised myself I would start and by golly I'm trying my best to keep my promise! A day late is better than not at all... right?? :)

Click on the pics below to download a copy of my plans with downloadable links for products that I'm using. :) My plans are missing my stations and a few other little things. Our schedules have changed slightly over the past week {yes, mid-year..yikes!!!!!} and well, I'm still adjusting. :(

It's missing from my plans... but we will also be reading lots of non-fiction books about penguins this week too! I will post some pics of those things soon!

And let me just say that I am LOVING the new Guiding Readers January ELA unit from Deanna and Deedee. It's FAB.U.LOUS!!!!! I snapped some pics last week of what we did... but no time tonight to share. Soon though!!

Have a wonderful week blog friends!!! :)

Happy Sunday! I am so excited because I'm finally linking up with the oh so sweet Deedee for my VERY FIRST Peek at My Week!! YAY! I told myself that I wanted to do better with blogging. And linking up with her each week is a perfect way to get in some more blogging... plus it holds me accountable for getting that pesky planning that sneaks up on a girl done just a little earlier. :)

I hope everyone has a great week back from Christmas break!! Don't forget to link up your plans with Deedee!

Currently January 2015

Happy first day of 2015! Every year I say I want to blog more.. and I really, really, really do!!  So I'm starting off the first day with a blog post! Yippe!! Maybe this will keep me motivated! I love reading everyone's currently each month and I decided to join in on the fun that Farely has each month over at Oh Boy 4th Grade!

So here goes my very first currently and hopefully it's the first of many! :)

I'm currently listening/watching to The Real Housewives of Atlanta that I had on the DVR. I was a little behind and getting caught up on all the drama that's happening in Atlanta.

I'm loving that I got to spend the day with Eric. He didn't have to work today, so I got to cook him breakfast, lunch, and dinner! :) I love to cook! We played Yahtzee, watched football, and just enjoyed being at home with no where to be and nothing to do. :)

I'm thinking that I don't want Christmas break to end... not just yet anyways. I had SO much I needed to get done while I was off. The flu.... well... it had other things in mind for me and unfortunately I haven't had the chance to do half of what I needed to do. A few more days off would help with that.

I'm wanting a new pair of TOMS wedges... BAD! I have a slight TOMS addiction.

I'm needing to finish a whole bunch of tpt units that I've started along the way and haven't finished. Those few extra days off would really help with this.

Yes to getting myself and my classroom organized! It's one of my new years resolutions to get organized. This would help tremendously with my other new resolutions to be stress free and leave work at work.

Maybe I will go ahead and order the wedges tonight. Why not!???

I wish it would SNOW! But not tonight... I'm thinking Sunday or Monday night would be great.. this would give me those few extra days that I'm so desperately needing to get caught up and oh get organized! ;)

That's my currently!
Be sure to link up with Farely with your currently!
