Snowy Fun!

January has been jam packed with all things snow! We read some books about snow and recorded our facts using Babbling Abby's fabulous flake facts anchor chart from her January anchor charts

We made our own snow and cute a little booklet about snow from Gladys wonderful Snowmen at Night resource.

We made these cutie snowmen and imagine we were snowmen... students wrote about what they would do if they were a snowman at night...
We also used our Kwik Stix to paint some cute snowmen at night.

We painted a Snowy Day scene with puff paint one day during indoor recess. These turned out so cute!
We compared and contrasted Snowmen at Night and Snowmen at Work.

We enjoyed a snowman trail mix and ice cold cocoa {The kids thought it was so funny that the snowmen in the story Snowmen at Night had ice-cold cocoa, so I thought it would be fun for us to have some too! :) }

You can find the venn diagram and Snowman craft along with lots of other fun snowman themed activities in this little pack. :)

SNOW Much Fun with KWIK STIX! {GIVEAWAY}

Hey blog friends! Last week we read Snowmen at Night by Caralyn Buehner. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to use my newest Kwik Stix (Thin Stix) that I just got in the mail for a little paint project! Students created a Snowmen at Night painting and then completed a writing prompt about what they would do if they were a snowman at night.

So what are Kwik Stix?? I've blogged about them before, but in case you missed those posts or haven't heard of them I will tell you a little bit about this super, amazing product that I was introduced to last year.

Kwik Stix are solid tempera paint sticks that dry in 90 seconds. (FABULOUS!!) Kwik Stix look like a glue stick and work very similar.... simply uncap, twist, and get busy painting! No water and no brushes necessary! Kwik Stix make painting projects so much quicker, easier, and mess free. I love that I can incorporate more projects like this into my week because Kwik Stix take up very little time and no prep! All I do is get out the container and some paper and they are good to go.
Kwik Stix work great on regular paper, construction paper, card stock, poster board, cardboard, canvas, wood, and more. Kwik Stix are AP certified! This means they are non-toxic and perfectly safe for young children.
Kwik Stix are available for purchase on Amazon and come in 6, 12, and 24 packs of classic, assorted, neon, and metalix colors. Kwik Stix is now available in a new version called Thin Stix! Thin Stix have all the same wonderful qualities as Kwix Stix, except they give you the option to paint with finer detail. One sweetie said "Miss Elisabeth, I think I like these thin ones better... I can use it easier."

My firsties give the new Thin Stix two thumbs up!! We love them and look forward to using them for more projects in the future! Would you like to win a set of Thin Stix for your classroom??? AND some snowy resources to go along with them? You are in for a real treat! I'm giving away to ONE lucky winner a 12 pack of Thin Stix.... plus my newest little pack Snowman Shenanigans... AND a 4 pack of the Snowmen books by Caralyn Buehner! Enter the rafflecopter gadget below. Good luck friends! :)
