Five For Friday! {October Edition with a Freebie!}

Happy Halloween blog friends!!! I am doing a little catch up post for the month of October since I have been little MIA from blogging lately. I've logged on to blog several times and would get a little post started and then not finish. I'm linking up with Kacey at Doodle Bugs for Five for Friday! Since I'm behind...Here are 5 random things from October rather than just this week! :)

At the beginning of the month we took our very first field trip to the pumpkin patch at Autumn Acres. We had SO much fun rotating through the stations.... we did a hayride to find the perfect pumpkin, the petting zoo, bounce pillow, corn maze, and had lots of playground time on the different playground areas.

In honor of our trip we made these cutie pumpkin patch kids and colored some cute Color-Me Pumpkin Cut Outs from Creative Teaching Press. I've said this before...but I love those Color-Me Cut Outs from Creative Teaching Press! They are the perfect addition to add a little extra something to your bulletin boards...quick, simple, and super cute! :)

We wrote about finding the perfect pumpkin. What helped them decide on the pumpkin they picked, what did it look like, etc. I didn't get a pic of some of their writing... I had planned to share the writing paper in this post... but I whipped it up super quick during my planning one day and I don't have it with me. Next time!

We also spent some time learning all about the life cycle of the pumpkin. I use the Guiding Readers units by the fabulous Deedee Wills and Deanna Jump in my classroom. One of the October books is Pumpkin Jack. What a wonderful book to use to teach the life cycle of the pumpkin. We read the book and did the amazing activities included in their October Guiding Readers pack. We love these activities and look forward to them each week!

We took a cruise for fall break. As always we had the best time together! Love my travel buddy and all of our adventures we have together! We are already looking to see where we can go on our next adventure!

In math we have been all about place value! We have learned to show a number in standard and expanded form, written form, and pictorial form. Here are a few pics of them in action.

If you can use this work mat you can grab it here HERE for FREE. It's nothing fancy smancy, but it gets the job done! :) I laminate these so we can use dry erase markers.

This week we were all about Halloween and Red Ribbon Week.

 We read Scardey Cat, Splat this week and made a Splat the Cat craft. We also completed several activities to go along with the book that I failed to snap a pic of. Bummerville! :(

Like the items I used to create this board? Here is where you can find these items! :)

 Yesterday, we wore our Halloween costumes and enjoyed some tasty treats.

Me and my school gal pals dressed as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs! I was Happy the Dwarf!

Today, I have a date with my sweet little Dexter dog...I'm not off to get him and myself ready so we can paint the town and get all the dog treats we can! :)

And... If you are in the shopping mood instead of the trick or treating mood me and several others are having a 20% off Halloween sale! :)

Thanks to Deana from Primary Punch for the super cute graphic!

Happy Halloween!!
